Jc higgins model 20 aftermarket stock

Moderator: mike orlen. Registered users: Amcon, b. JC Higgins Model 20 parts help needed Moderator: mike orlen. Posted: Wed May 25, am. One was my grandfather's pheasant gun out in western Nebraska. The main issue with it is that the bar on the side of the action tube has broken twice before and "repaired" by a farmer friend of his. The other I found cheap and intended to use as a parts gun. Other than missing the forend and a few screws, it's intended use once back together is for home defense, since it's in better shape than I thought.

Both are being taken apart and blued. These are the first shotguns I've worked on, having spent most of my time as a hobbyist gunsmith working on pistols, so I'm fumbling my way through. I've checked Numrich's, but am not finding all I need. At the end of the magazine tube, there's supposed to be a large slotted and knurled "screw" that threads into the end of the magazine spring stop.

Sorry if I've gotten my terminology wrong, but I expect y'all know what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie. Posted: Wed May 25, pm. It was made by High Standard and may be this model. Posted: Thu May 26, am. Posted: Fri May 27, pm. The part I'm needing would be described as a large diameter, short, decorative screw that thread into the magazine cap One of the guns has one, and the other had some sort of hardware store screw.

Could this screw have not been original? I've only handled two of these guns, and both having something in place, it seems to me that it would be stock. Why it's then not in the schematic, I don't know. Thanks for your help. Found a picture of another 20 on the Internet, and have attached it here. The slotted screw is what I need to find and a forend. Sorry for the additional posts. I'm just trying to provide as much info as I can find, in the hopes that someone might have what I'm looking for.

I found a High-Standard catalog that shows part 84 in the schematic below. However, in the same document, there is no part 84 listed in the parts list. This seems to be the case in other models schematics as well. Posted: Sat May 28, pm. Some of the model 20s used the screw and some used a flat cap that had screws in the side of mag. There are at least 2 different end caps not counting the one with the screw slot. High Standard is still in business, and located in Houston, Texas.

You might give them a call, and ask for Alan Aronstein. They have a lot of NOS parts, and just might have what you need. Posted: Sat Jun 04, pm. Posted: Thu Apr 19, am.Order by:. Available to:. Baseman's Mitt. JC Higgins 9' 3-piece Vintage split bamboo fly rod fishing.

Schaefer Gun Parts & Gunsmith Accessories

New to this site, first post and all. Bought an old JC Higgins model 66 12ga. Cracked, split, broken, chipped Is there another brand, hopefully a more common one, that has a stock that will fit, or very easily modified? Remington, Mossberg, Ithica, etc.? Thanks in advance!! Welcome to ShotgunWorld. It has been about 50 years or longer since any new guns have been sold under the J.

Higgins name. All the JCH guns were made by other gun companies and usually just the same as one of their regular model guns with the company name on it. So, it may be possible to find another brand named gun that would have a stock that would fit, but why bother? You would probably have to pay more for the replacement stock than you paid for the whole gun you have.

Personally, if it were mine, I'd just use whatever glue, tape, or bailing wire I needed to hold it together and just hope the thing keeps on shooting. Don't worry about the looks. If it shoots OK, then you've more than got your money out of it.

Look at it as a learning experience. Try refinishing the stock yourself if you want to. Do modifications to the barrel. What have you got to lose? You could have a lot of fun and learn a lot about guns by experimenting with that one. Good luck. Parts for these J.JavaScript seems to be disabled in your browser.
